Founded in Denver 1934 by eight schoolteachers, Westerra lives into its purpose “We exist to teach one another to prosper” by focusing on meaningful relationships, helping individuals, families and businesses meet their financial goals, and positively impacting lives through financial education. Westerra holds approximately $2-billion in assets and is member-owned. We are implementing new products and adjusting others so that we can effectively meet both the big life events and everyday happenings of our 110,000 members across the Denver metro area. Each individual depositor at Westerra is federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) up to $250,000, and backed by the full faith and credit of the United States government. In the past decade, Westerra has donated millions to the community through sponsorships, donations and grants and, on average, contributes over 1,200 volunteer hours each year to community and school-based programs. Sarah Siddens is a 1st Grade Teacher at Gust Elementary School, and the recipient of the Westerra Credit Union Teacher First Pitch. Sarah was selected from more than 450 applications received by Westerra Credit Union from students, fellow teachers and community members. Sarah embodies the spirit of dedication, compassion, and mentorship that truly sets her apart as an educator and community leader. Her commitment to the well-being of her students is unparalleled, evident in her role as wellness coordinator. One highlight of Sarah’s remarkable contributions to our school community is the development of a therapy dog program, where her Golden doodle Onyx will be joining as Gust Elementary’s first therapy dog. When not at school, Sarah enjoys hanging out with her dogs, adventuring in the mountains, and of course watching baseball.
